Community Supported Agriculture in Rush

Kids helping at the CSA

Kids don’t know they’re learning while helping. They’re just having fun getting dirty!

What is a CSA? Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is where a farmer offers a certain number of “shares” to the public.  A share consists of a box of vegetables that may include other farm products such as fruits, or eggs.  Interested consumers purchase a share and in return receive a basket of seasonal produce each week throughout the growing season.   Why should I buy a share?
  • Support local farming
  • Excess produce will be donated to a local food pantry
  • You get to eat ultra-fresh food, with all the flavor and vitamin benefits
  • Get exposed to new vegetables and new ways of cooking
  • Get to visit the farm
  • Kids typically favor food from “their” farm
  • Develop a relationship with the farmer who grows their food and learn more about how food is grown
  • Be a part of a incredible experience, helping our farm help those in need!

      Hey thanks!

Rush is a amazingly beautiful little Town. Basically about 10 to 15 minutes from anywhere in Rochester. Most people who travel this area only know it as the left hand turn on their way to 390….you know the one..with that vacant building on the corner.

I remember being a young boy walking the farm with my Grandfather. Our walks would always with a question, “tell me what you see?”. Which would create the opportunity for him to share his experiences growing up on that very same farm. We would walk to the top of the hill and just sit, staring off into the distant Bristol hills. Through his father’s love for this farm and town, a seed was planted in him. That same seed has been shared across now five generations. Same farm, same view, same passion for this community.
In 2004, I adopted the Rush portion of the Lehigh Valley Trail. Maintaining and doing small community projects for others to enjoy. It was not until then that I realized how many people just turned left at the hamlet, and had never looked beyond the vacant old Big M.
I encourage people to visit the farm, walk our fields and pastures, talk with our Farmers. Let’s us plant a seed for community and a passion for the land in you, your children and all of our futures.

      Blessings
      Farmer Kyle
